(i) Daughter cells formed in meiosis are gametes.

(ii) These gametes have half of the chromosome number as the parent.

(iii) When male and female gametes fuse together during fertilisation zygote is formed which have the same number of chromosomes as the parent.

(iv) If the gametes do not have half of the chromosome number as the parent, when they fuse, they form zygote which double the number of chromosomes when compared to parent cell.

(v) If it continues, cells in the offspring will have thousands of chromosomes within few generations.

(vi) If the chromosome number increases in a species it leads to the formation of abnormalities.
