Both are cell organelles.

Both are bounded by double membrane.

Both contain DNA and RNA.

Both can make their own copies by division.

The differences between mitochondria and plastids are as follows:

Mitochondria helps in cellular respiration while plastids (chloroplast) helps in photosynthesis.

Mitochondria releases energy in the form of ATP while plastids store energy in the form of glucose.

Mitochondria are found in all eukaryotic cells but plastids are found only in algae and plant cells.

Mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell while plastids are the kitchen of the cell

Mitochondria carry out oxidation of carbohydrates, fats, etc. With the help of enzymes. plastids are synthesising carbohydrates with the help of solar energy and chlorophyll. Both the cell organelles have their own sets of different enzymes as per their role. If there would have been no difference between mitochondria and plastids, the specific difference would not have been taken place .
