If we break the stem of a plant some plants will die some will split and grow it depends upon the plant and the amount of tissue damage.

If the tip of a growing stem is cut off, a hormone called auxin will be released in abundance and promote leaf growth and branching.
In normal scenarios, due to the presence of apical bud, auxin release is in control.
This technique is normally performed in nurseries to enhance the growth rate of plants.
