A hinge joint is that joint which helps in the movement of bones in along one axis. So if the neck joint was a hinge joint and not a pivot joint, it would only move along one restricted axis. It would not able to move freely thus, limiting its movement and creating problems in our daily activity

if our neck had hinge joint, we would not be able to move or rotate our neck in all directions as hinge joints allow movements only in one direction.
