The following would have been the atmosphere of India if the Himalayas were not in existence along the northern frontiers of India:

1. The Himalayas act as a boundary to the South West monsoon blows.  When they hit the Himalayas, they dropped their precipitation producing much-needed rain in the northern parts of the nation. How-ever, in the absence of Himalaya would have resulted in the loss of rainfall.

2. The monsoon channel exhibits a periodical shift to the north or south of its natural setting. When the channel moves towards the north and prevails close to the Himalayas, there is a change in the precipita-tion pattern of India. The rains take abruptly covering the lowlands of North India and expand quickly over the foothills of North India. All these processes take place with the help of Himalayas, thus the nonexistence of the Himalayas would have resulted in the extreme cold and dry climatic condition in India.
