what would have happen if meiosis not occurs during the production of human sperm cell and egg cell ?

if meiosis won't occur during the production of sperm cell and egg...then another process..likely to be mitosis would come into play and there will be equational division of the chromosomes...as like in mitosis...and during the formation of human fertilised egg..that is...zygote..a giant organism may prevail...due to its more no of normal chrosomes....
