Answer:

Explanation:

There are many possiblities to this,as 500 years of alternate history is too long to contemplate. I would only write about the immediate alternate.

First, let's assume Babur did indeed die & lose in the battle of panipat. So, that means ibrahim lodi's large cavalry survived the lethal gunpower & artillery of babur. After emerging victorious in such a huge battle, lodi acquires the powerful gunpowder firearms which would make his army much stronger.

Having a stronger army, he would have squandered the rajput rebellions & attacks and would have extended his empire to acquire mewar & other rajput states.

But being a weak ruler, he couldn't have contained the uprising rebellions for long.Plus his trade routes being already depleted had disconnected his ports to the capital resulting in a depleted treasury and a weak political structure.Instead of a strong empire, it would have disintegrated into myriad of princely states. His successors wouldn't have a great empire to rule & prosper even if they had potential to do so.

Such a divided country with many rulers is always d ideal situation for foriegn intruders. Portugese having already discovered the water route to india, would inspire spanish, french & british traders to come to india.

But the portugese influence would have been limited as spain invaded portugal in 1580.

The Dutch weren't interested in trading in india as their primary foucs was spice trading from jakrta, indonesia.

Though indian rulers would be averse to the idea of a foreign power carrying on commercial activities in the indian ocean, spice trade was lucrative so as to fill up the empty treasury.

The competition to establish india as a colony, spanish, french & britishers would have fought fiercely. The indian princes as usual would be divided & would have supported different parties. The mighty british with their superior navy power would have emerged victorios in most parts.Weak indian rulers would surrender or get a meagre part to rule. The french & spanish would have colonies in some parts of india too as part of a peace treaty. And thus an early British rule would have shackled India for more years until a great person named Gandhi would guide our entire nation to a free & independent country.
