El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere, written by Jose Rizal, prepared the way for a Filipino insurrection against Spain. Rizal was a learned man. He used his pen to strive for changes and independence. Rizal intellectuals are merely advocating for changes, not to release the Filipinos from freedom or self-government; he only wants liberal reforms, but the Philippines will still be under Spanish dominion at the moment. Not like Andres Bonifacio, whose idea is entire freedom for the Filipino, but Aguinaldo is the true color of our current political system, desire for power and not caring for the people."
