The small intestine is about 7m long. The functions of the small intestine are:-

  • It is the place where the digestion and absorption of food occurs.
  • It absorbs nutrients from food
  • Chemical digestion of food occurs in small intestine; with the help of bile juice secreted from the liver and enzymes present in small intestine.
  • After the food is processed in small intestine,it goes into the large intestine for elimination of waste.
