whay is the role of fas in estimation of carbonate and bicarbonate alkalinity

Answer:

when CO2 gas is passed through lime water then it turns the lime water solution milky,formation of calcium carbonate (CaCo3) .
when excess Co2 is passed through the above solution, milky solution then the milky ness again disappears due to formation of sodium bicarbonate.
