when 3.2 g of S is vaporised @ 450°C and 723 mm pressure, the vapour occupies a volume of 780 cm3 what is the molecular formula of S
in the conditions ?

Answer: From ideal gas equation, pV=wMRT

∴ M=3.2×0.0821×760×1000×723723×780=256

∵ 32 g of sulphur has 1 atom of S.

∴ Molecular formula=S8
