length = x-5

breath = x-5

perimetre = 26

formula for perimeter = 2(l+b)

so,

26=2(x-5+x-5)

26=2x-(-10)+2x-(-10)

26=4x+20

4x+20=26

4x=26-20

4x=6

x=6/4

x=3/2
