When 5 is subtracted from length and breadth of the triangle the perimeter becomes 26 what is the mathematical form of the statement

Let x and y be length and breadth respectively:-
(x-5)+(y-5)=26
x-5+y-5=26
x+y-5-5=26
x+y-10=26
x+y=26+10
Answer:- x+y=36
