Density of a substance is defined as mass per unit volume.

∴ Density=mass/volume

or

d=m/v

The density of body is the amount of matter it contains for each unit of its volume.

When we say density of brass is 8.4gm/cm³ , it means that 1cm³ of brass has a mass of 8.4g.
