let the no. of male passengers be 3x and female be x and total no of passengers be 4x .
at the first stop male passengers =
(4x -16)×3/4=3x-12 and
female . .. (4x +16) ×1/4+6= x+2
therefore 3x-12 ÷x+2=2÷1
= 3x-12= 2x+4
x=16
by solving further we get total passengers as 64
