When a carpet is bitten with the stick dust does come out of it . Explain

Dust particles were at rest on the carpet. However when you beat the carpet, you are forcing the dust to move along with the carpet. Due to the dust having inertia of rest, it doesn't move, or rather, it resists motion. This is why dust comes out of a carpet when it is beaten with a stick.
