This happens because of displacement reaction.copper which is more reactive than silver displaces silver from its nitrate solution forming copper nitrate and silver

Cu+ AgNo3⇒ Cu(No3)2 +Ag

kiran3003: Thx very much !!
Anonymous: u r welcome
kiran3003: but why it glitters??
Anonymous: silver has a glittery appearance so when it displaces copper the glittery appearance comes to the coin
Anonymous: and the apt word instead of glitters can be shiny i believe

Cu+Ag(No3)2= Cu(No3)2+Ag.

Silver displace By Copper Because Copper is highly reactive than Silver..
