When a copper wire is left in silver nitrate solution, it is observed that the solution turns bluish green.

(a) This happens due to displacement reaction, copper being more reactive than silver displaces it from it's solution.

(b) 2 AgNO3 + Cu ➡ Cu(NO3)2 + 2 Ag
