as we know that force=change of momentum/time
so when the glass vessel fall on hardwood its momentum changes into 0 in very less span of time and when it fall on carpet its momentum takes more time to change into 0 so as the second law of motion it the in which time is less recieves greater force than object in second condition i have explained it but i can explain it more clearly if you dont understand
