this happens because of Newton's 3rd law of motion in which it states that every action has an equal and opposite reaction

according to 3rd law of motion the amount of velocity which goes forward with same speed and velocity it comes backward so it indicates that every action has an equal and opposite reaction

THAT IS ACTION= REACTION
WHEN GUN IS FIRED BULLET GOES WITH A HIGH VELOCITY AND SO IT EXERT PRESSURE AND AS A RESULT OF REACTION IT APPLIED BACKWARD FORCE AS WELL.
