When a monochromatic light travels from one medium to another explain that changes but frequency remain same why?

When the light suffers refraction it changes its speed, wavelength etc.. But its frequency remains same because frequency depends on the source where the light is originated.. Their is no change in the intensity of light when it suffers refraction. Refraction just changes it direction not the energy contained in it
