When a pesticides is sprayed in a population of insects ,all insects do not get killed but few of them survive .give reason?

Hy,
We all know that sexual reproduction leads to variation. The pesticide which was sprayed killed only those insects who are susceptible to it, and didn't killed their offsprings or insects who developed resistance to it due to reproduction.
It's about sexual reproduction leads to variation.
