when a piece of copper metal is added to a solution of zinc sulphate no change takes place but the blue colour of copper sulphate fades away when a peace zinc is placed in its Solution

this because of displacement reaction

in the reactivity series the metal copper comes below the metal zinc ..
and only the metals above to any metal are capable of displacing them...
when copper is added to ZnSO4 ?(zinc sulphate) then displacement reaction takes place
on the other hand when Zn is added to CuSO4 (copper sulphate) the blue coloured solution fades away due to the formation of ZnSO4 since Zn displaces it from its solution
the chemical reaction is as follows..
Zn + CuSO4 -> ZnSO4 + Cu

Answer:
the blue colour of copper sulphate solution will fade away. However, copper being less reactive than zinc will not be able to displace zinc from its salt, i.e. zinc sulphate. Hence, when a piece of copper is added to zinc sulphate solution, then no reaction will take place
hope it helps you
