Copper is less reactive than zinc. So it cannot displace zinc ion from zinc sulphate solution. Hence there is no reaction.
But, as zinc is more reactive than copper , so it displaces copper ion from copper sulphate to form zinc sulphate, which is not blue in colour.

, The blue colour of copper sulphate solution willfade away. However, copper being less reactive than zinc will not be able to displace zinc from its salt, i.e. zinc sulphate. Hence, when a piece of copper isadded to zinc sulphate solution, then noreaction will take place.
