when a piece of iron is left outside it will rust in this situation the iron atoms are?

Iron atoms easily gets oxidised when comes in contact with Atmosphere.

Iron has high Oxidation potential ... So when it comes in contact with the Oxygen molecules in Air it gets oxidised easily and forms Rust.
