When a rifle is fired the barrel does not get lined up on the target this is because of the gravitational force and velocity of the earth .When the rifle is fired the gravitational force of the earth pulls it downward and as a result there is a weight on the barrel and the barrel will move in a
different direction and it will not hit the target.
different direction and it will not hit the target.

◆As soon as a bullet is fired from a gun whose barrel is lined up exactly on the target, it starts falling downwards on account of acceleration due to gravity. Due to which the bullet will hit below the target. Just to avoid it, the barrel of the gun is lined up little above the target, sothat the bullet, after travelling in parabolic path hits the distant target.
