Explanations:-

Concept of wave mechanics:-

When a stone is dropped in water it produced waves.

And this wave is know as transverse wave.

There is two types of waves :-

Transverse wave :- The wave in which the motion of the particle of the system is perpendicular to the direction of propagation of wave.

Ex :- Wave produced in water.

Light waves, Radio waves.

Longitudinal waves :- The waves in which the motion of the particle of the system is parallel to the direction of propagation of wave.

Ex :- Sound waves, Infrasonic waves.

Some more info :-

Transverse waves is also categorized as :-

Electromagnetic waves :-

The waves which produces magnetic and electric field perpendicular to the direction of propagation of wave is known as electromagnetic waves.

Such as :-

Light waves, Gamma waves, x - rays.

The most penetrating wave is Gamma waves.

Having very large frequency and small wavelength.

Light wave is also an electromagnetic waves having wavelength up to 400 nm to 700 nm.

  • Violet has smaller wavelength 400 nm

  • Red has larger wavelength 700 nm.

Relation between frequency, wavelength and velocity of waves.

 \huge \boxed{v = n \lambda}

where v is velocity of waves, n is frequency and λ is wavelength.
