Our school organized ‘Safe Drive Save Life’ week on March 5, 2017 at the campus. 2017 by representatives from Traffic Police Ludhiana. Mr. Kulwant Singh Malhi, in charge Traffic Police Ludhiana, Mr. Gurpreet Singh, Head Constable, and Mr. Gurpreet Singh, constable from Education Cell Traffic Police Ludhiana gave informative lectures to the students from 10, +1, and +2 classes. They informed the students that owning to the violation of traffic rules on roads by underage driving roads have become very unsafe, especially for school children. They presented shocking statistics connected with road rage. According to Road Accident Statistics India 1214 road crashes occur every day in India. 20 children under the age of 14 die every day due to road crashes in the country. One serious road accident in the country occurs every minute and 16 people die on Indian roads every hour. Safe Drive Safe Life campaign was first launched by the West Bengal government to inculcate a sense of safe driving and responsible road behaviour among people in the state. According to the philosophy of the campaign roads are an integral part of our life. Each one of us uses them to go to school, offices, markets, hospitals, and then to reach home back. Safe driving is an essential component of road safety. Every day, so many people lose lives due to irresponsible and reckless driving. So the purpose of the campaign is to ensure road safety by sensitizing the concept of safe driving among people, especially the youngsters and children. If you omit slightest precautions of safety, your life can be in jeopardy. Be extremely cautious when you drive on road. Follow all the traffic rules meticulously. The most important thing that you must not do is ‘HURRY’. Wise men have said ‘HASTE MAKES WASTE’. So never ever be in hurry while on roads. The second thing that you must not do is ‘BE IMPATIENT’. Be patient while driving. You will come across people who will be in mad rush; don’t get affected by their rashness. You just maintain your cool. If each one of us starts behaving like the ideal driver behind the steering wheel, roads will become far safer!
