When a tree is cut the cut is madeon the side facing the direction in which the tree is required to fall .why?

That's because it makes the tree fall in that direction. See, a tree is a tall and heavy structure and it stands on its trunk. When you cut the trunk little by little, that particular side becomes indented. So the remaining part of the trunk cannot hold the tree. And so the tree falls.
