Hey friend,
here's your answer,
while crossing a suspension bridge, the soldiers are asked to break there steps .This is so because while marching each soldier exerts a force to the bridge which altogether creates a frequency and if this frequency matches with the frequency of the bridge, then resonance occurs and bridge start moving rapidly with large amplitude and thus, this may lead to break off of the suspension bridge.
hope it helps you.....!!

Answer:
Explanation: the reason is when soldier's March in steps all seperate periodic forces exerted by them are in same phase and there for forced vibrations of a particular frequency are produced in birdge . now if natural frequency of the birdge happens to be equal to the frequency of the steps, the birdge will vibrate with large amplitude due to resonance and suspension bridge will crumble.
