Given:

A wave moves through 10m and a point changes from crest to trough and time taken is 1s.

To find:

Wavelength and frequency of wave?

Calculation:

Wavelength is defined as the distance between adjacent troughs or adjacent crests.

  • Here distance between trough and crest is 10 metres, so wavelength is 10 × 2 = 20 metres.

Similarly time taken to travel through a full cycle is 1 × 2 = 2 sec.

Hence , frequency of wave = 1/Time = 1/2 = 0.5 Hz.
