Hence both the upper and lower section of R/2 length can be calculated as separate conductor that are parallel. The upper section is exactly half length of the entire length and as resistance is directly proportional to length the resistance shall be half.

Rab = Rba = R/2

As both the conductor are in parallel the total resistance shall be

1/R’ = 1/Rab +1/Rba

As Rab = Rba

R’ = Rab/2 = R/4

As diameter splits circle in 2 semi circles

As its resistance is R

therefore resistance of each semi circle =.R/2

Now as both in parallel

So Equivalent resistance = (R/2)( R/2)/ ( R/2 + R/2)

= R^2/4 × 1/R

= R/4
