When an electric current is passed through any wire a magnetic field is produced around it then why an electric iron connected cable does not attract nearby iron object when electric current is switched on through it?

Yes, it true that a magnetic field is created around the wire when an alternating current is passed through it. The magnetic field produced in cables is very weak and is not enough to attract nearby objects.  Secondly, metallic wires of cables are shielded with the cover which prevents magnetic field to show its effect outside the cable.
