When an inductor is connected to a 230 V D.C source a current of 2A passes through it. When the same conductor is connected to a 230V 50Hz A.C soutce the current decreases to 1 A. Why?

Answer:

because inductor as a property of storing energy in the form of magnetic field. ie It also apposes sudden change in current. Since Ac produces alternating magnetic field some amount has being stored by the inductor.
