In Helen Keller's autobiography, "The Story of My Life" describes how her parents were a support to her despite her illness. She had lost eyesight and hearing, which slowly pushed her into a solitary life. 

Helen was eighteen months old when she developed the disease. She ran high fever for several and it went away, yet it left her blind and deaf. She developed an unruly attitude when her parents got to know about her disease.
