Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth guru of the Sikhs, created Khalsa in the year 1699. It was established at Anandpur Sahib on the day of Baishakhi in April.

It was done by him to turn the Sikhs to be brave soldiers. The Panch Piare emerged out of a tent wearing turbans after fighting with their guru.
