When are we supposed to use step-deviation method and assumed mean method to find mean. For ex we use direct method when the values of xi and fi are small...

they are mainly used when the value are big or are not rounded off ! Also they are used for Class intervals as well ! Its preffered to use step deviation or shortcut method even if the values are small ! Hope it helped
vsowmyasvbrainly: it is preferred to use step deviation method because it is easy and also we do not get confused.
