When a government is unable to prove its majority and also when a ‘No-confidence motion’ is passed then a governor can dissolve the assembly.

EXPLANATION:

According to the constitution of India, the ‘state Assembly’ can be dissolved when there are factors that prevent the ‘state government’ from functioning as per requirement. When the state assembly does not have a majority and cannot form a government or elect the chief minister.

When the state is not able to execute its powers as directed by the union government, then the governor needs to assess the situation and if required can dissolve the assembly.
