When CO2 is passed through lime water it turns milky as the reaction takes place and CO2 turns the lime water into a foggy solution

cooldab: the equation of calcium carbonate is Ca(OH)2(aq) + CO2(g) → CaCO3(s) + H2O(l)
cooldab: i forget to add this so i am adding it in the comment section
