When carbon dioxide reacts with carbon, carbon monoxide is formed. What type of reaction is it?

If neither is available carbon dioxide could be generated by the neutralisation reactions between an acid and a carbonate or an acid and ahydrogen carbonate. When carbon dioxide gas is passed over heated charcoal it forms carbon monoxide.
