when celsius thermometer reads 92°C a faulty farenheit thermometer reads 190° F that correction to be made in the latter scale?

solution : we know the relation between degree Celsius and Fahrenheit scale,

C/100 = (F - 32)/180

given, Reading on Celsius scale, C = 92°C

so, reading on Fahrenheit scale , F = ?

92/100 = (F - 32)/180

or, 92/5 = (F - 32)/9

or, 92 × 9 = 5(F - 32)

or, 829/5 = F - 32

or, F - 32 = 165.6

or, F = 165.6 + 32 = 197.6°

but given reading on Faulty Fahrenheit thermometer is 190°F . hence, error in faulty thermometer = 197.6°F - 190°F = 7.6°F. we should add 7.6°F in 190°F to make correct reading on Fahrenheit thermometer.
