Chromic oxide is reddish brown in colour.It has the molecular formula of Cr2O3.It occurs as the rare mineral eskolaite  chromite ore contains chromium.When chromite ore heated with na2co3 strongly followed by washing with water and brown colour of residue is chromic oxide.Na2CO3 is basic in nature.
