St Mary's Boys School wins debate competition

St Mary's Boys School won the Raosaheb T K Kurup trophy in the interschool English debate competition held at St Mary's Girls High School recently . The best speaker trophy was awarded to Uma Joshi from St Joseph School, Pashan. The topic of debate was `India of today has failed to live up to its preamble'. St Mary's Girls, St Mary's Boys, The Bishop's School in Kalyaninagar, Undri and Camp, Wisdom World School, St Joseph High School, Pashan, and Dr Erin N Nagarvala Day School participated in the debate. The contestants brought forth various issues India is facing today and also the initiatives taken by the government to combat them.
The competition was the brain child of Vimala Menon, who addressed the students on this occasion. She suggested that students should come up with solutions to the problems faced by the country and try to be a global citizen.
