- The Sanyasis revolted from 1763 onwards, and there was a lot uprising in the the area of Bengal Bihar and Uttar Pradesh
- Fakirs and Sanyasis used to travel to North Bengal to visit various shrines and pilgrim sites and they used they used to collect a good amount of donations from the local Zamindars. Due to Bengal famine Zamindars could not pay the taxes as a result their land were taken away and restrictions were put on the fakirs and sanyasis.
- In the 18th century the peasants, displaced landlords and these Sadhus and Fakirs came together and rebelled against the British due to which 150 Sanyasis were hanged.
