In case of motion of a body in a straight line (inna particular one direction), distance covered by the body will be equal to the displacement covered by the body.

Hence, the distance and displacement will only be equal if an object travels in a straight line in positive direction. How can a car move a certain distance and yet have zero displacement? If the medium changes, does a displacement still occur when objects move?
