When do we use magnetic separation method for concentration of an ore? Explain with an example?

This method of separation is used when either the ore particles or the gangue associated with it possess magneticproperties. For example, chromite Fe(CrO2)2being magnetic can be separated from the non-magnetic silicious gangue by magnetic separation.

Overhead magnets, magnetic pulleys, and the magnetic drums were the methods used in the recycling industry. Magnetic separation is also useful in mining iron as it is attracted to a magnet.
