When do we use singular and plural with collective noun?

Collective nouns generally carry singular verb.

But sometimes , depending on the meaning, we can use plural verb for collective nouns when the memebers of the group or collection are referred to individually

Like-
1. The jury (singular)was (singular) agree with the proposed sentence.

2. The jury (plural) memebers were (plural)divided in their opinion.

Some other examples - group, crowd, team, etc.
