A short circuit primarily occurs when two current carrying bare wires come in contact with each other. This results in the current flowing through the circuit reach a very high value that can cause danger and also result in a tripped breaker or blown fuse. Short circuits can occur in both DC and AC circuits.
When a short circuit takes place, the problem should be addressed immediately. Short circuits can be avoided by taking care to install fuses and circuit breakers correctly.
