When ethanoic acid reacts with sodium hydrogencarbonate sodium ethanoate with brisk effervescence of carbon dioxide gas are released. Thus salt X is sodium ethanoate and gas Y is carbon dioxide.
2CH3COOH + NaHCO3 ------> CH3COONa + CO2+ H2O

Ankushsane: what is chemical formula of sodium ethonate
Ankushsane: ethanoate*
aditi1382: ch3coona
