If a patient is weak on the right side due to a stroke or other impairment, then the doctor or aide should help that patient on their right side. For example, a patient has a weak right leg because she broke it recently. The patient should not put a lot of pressure on that side of their body. Instead, they should have support like a crutch.
If the person is in the hospital and they do not have crutches because they need help going to the bathroom, then the nurse should support that person on their right side so they do not have to put pressure on their right leg. Sometimes, people may lean on the helper or aide for much-added support.
